We believe in nutrition and healthy eating as a part of the yogic lifestyle so while you are with us, we will take care of that for you. 

The Kitchen provides 3 meals a day as well as plenty of healthy snacks, drinks and teas. We begin the day with something light before yoga then settle in for a Hearty Brunch and Energising Smoothie. Tea and home made cakes around 4pm and then in the evening a Delicious 2 Course Supper, comforting and well deserved after your day chilling on the mat!

The Mellulah Yoga Kitchen 

On our regular yoga retreats, we have an amazing chef, Karen Ben Amor, her food is stunningly delicious, she is passionate about food and spends weeks preparing recipes and new ideas for our retreats, we are guaranteed something special. Whether you are already vegetarian or if you haven’t ever tried going without meat or fish, you will love everything that Karen prepares, forget any boring ideas of what a vegetarian diet can be like, Karens food is up there with the best.

fullsizerenderKaren spent her childhood on a farm in Bedfordshire, and from an early age she loved to cook with her mother and grandmother who were very good family cooks. Her great grandmother was a cook in a private home in Leicester and after training for 5 years in a hotel in Lincolnshire Karen cooked privately for 35 years in various private homes in London, Sussex and the South of France cooking for high profile families and their guests. The list includes Princess Margaret, Sir David Frost, Melvin Bragg, Steven Spielberg, Elizabeth Hurley, Russell Crowe and many others.

Karen loves to make people happy though cooking and loves to bake and cook at home for family and friends as well cooking for a living. She has now moved to Dorset to enjoy a quieter life and cooks for a local MP and his family on a beautiful private estate. 

Karen says, “Cooking and food has changed so much since I started cooking at the age of 16, we are now lucky enough to have so much choice with ingredients, recipes and influences from all over the world, I just want to cook everything new I see and read about! It is so exciting to try new methods, ingredients and styles of food, it brings me so much pleasure. I would cook day and night if I could and there would still not be enough time to try every recipe I would like too, it really is my life passion” .

The Juicing & Plant Based Cleanse Mellulah Yoga Kitchen

Our chef for the 30 June 2 July 2017 Retreat is Sue Leonard.

Sue owned a teashop in Poole, Dorset for over sixteen years.  However her baking skills have taken an unusual twist and the food she now prepares is for health, not wealth.

She has had first hand experience of the wellness which can be achieved from healthy eating, having overcome M.E. herself through extracting the nutrients from fresh vegetables and fruits by juicing.  Juice is an integral part of her life and she juices daily for her family of five.

Reclaiming her health inspired her to become qualified as a Natural Juice Therapist, allowing her to further share her passion.  Now we are about to experience this passion, not only for natural juice, but also for wonderful, energising food in the form of delicious, predominantly raw, recipes.

“We really are what we eat and so I am really looking forward to sharing food which is fresh, vibrant and alive”

Sue will also be treating us to a Nutritional Talk/Juicing Demonstration, together with a Raw Cacao Workshop,  the latter will be a fun and informative session learning about the nutritional benefits raw cacao can offer us and, of course, making chocolates you will never forget.

Sue will be joined in the Yoga Kitchen in June by Caroline Judd, the owner of the house we will be staying in and an expert in Foraging. Caroline will be adding her own unique blend of foraged, seasonal plants and herbs from the surrounding countryside around Bulbarrow Hill in Dorset to accompany the juices and meals. Caroline loves to share her experience so you will learn lots from her over the weekend.
